Wedding Photography Tips and Things to Avoid

  • Relax, smile and enjoy your big day - update your wedding notes anytime by email/text/phone before your big day
  • Invite family and friends that are really close to you
  • Throwing the bouquet and receiving lines are FREE photo opportunities
  • Set a reasonable amount of time for photos (not too little or too much)
  • Get a good nights sleep before your wedding and don’t rise too early either
  • Meet your photographer for as many pre-wedding consultations as reasonably possible
  • Ask your photographer if he can attend your wedding rehearsal
  • Make sure your venue and reception has plenty of natural lighting
  • Read real testimonials from their previous wedding couples
  • If you are one of those couples that don’t like showing affection in public. Let this one day be an exception. The photos will tell you for years to come why you fell in love and married this special person.

  • read/view their blog often and check to see how often it is updated
  • have your hen night and stag night at least a week before your big day definitely not the night before!

  • make sure your photographer is aware of any guests with special needs
  • don’t feel pressured to book a package that is too large for your needs or to small to satisfy you
  • selection of images individually and appropriately edited into black and white or sepia or duotone
  • give the photographer a list of your key shots
  • make sure you like the photographer’s previous work
  • Finally… for both of you, remember that this is YOUR day and never lose sight of the reason you are getting married. Just plan ahead (write a list if you need to) and leave plenty of time for contingency. Also, never be afraid to rely on others to help you through the entire process… that’s what friends are for after all!
